We have been growing potatoes on the East
Coast of Angus for Bartlett’s for the last 12 years.
We supply the company with varieties such as
Osprey, Desiree, Saxon, Nicola for salads,
Rooster and Vivaldi which was new for us in
2007. Aside from potatoes we also grow wheat
for bread making, spring barley for malting and
oil seed rape for a vegetable oil manufacturer.
We also rear sheep and cattle on our farm in the
Angus Glens.
As farmers it is important to us to attract different
forms of wildlife to our area, as this can often
help our crops. For this reason we built a pond
on the farm to encourage ducks and other bird
species. Additionally in 2007 we became part of ‘Operation Bumblebee’, a scheme set up to try
and increase Britain’s bee population. Away from
farming completely Ian enjoys a good game of
golf or curling. Finally we received the Silver
Award from the RHAS for innovation for being
co-inventor of the bio-degradable potato
handling system.
