We have been supplying Bartlett’s with potatoes
from Alyth, Strathmore and East Perthshire for 12
years. We provide the company with 2 varieties;
Osprey and Rooster. As well as potatoes we
grow wheat for livestock feeding, barley for
malting, soft fruit and we also rear cattle. The
blackcurrants we grow are used for the Ribena
juice drink and we are also one of only a few
commercial bramble growers in Scotland.
The enhancement of surrounding environment is
an area that is of great interest to us and we take
great time and care in ensuring that we conserve
natural habitats. Recently we constructed 3 large
ponds for local wildlife such as oystercatchers,
ducks, swans, herons etc. We are also trialling a
maize/sunflower set-aside mixture to further
encourage other wildlife. Due to a large
proportion of our farmland being used for soft
fruit we are able to employ large amounts of
local labour throughout the year. Both myself and
my son Rowan are actively involved in our local
agricultural show held June each year in Alyth.
