From our Perthshire farm, Bankhead of Kinloch,
my son and I have been growing potatoes for
Bartlett’s for 10 year. We supply them with 5
varieties of potatoes including Maris Piper,
Vivaldi and Rooster.
As well as potatoes we also grow our own soft
fruit and spring barley for malting. The care of
wildlife along with their habitats is key to the food
chain and can be advantageous to both the farm
and wildlife.
With the support of FWAG’s management
scheme we are planting trees and erecting bird
boxes to encourage barn owls and wildlife to
nest on our farm.
Away from the activities of the farm I like to get
involved with community events and enjoy being
the treasurer of Cupar Angus Church, Vice
Chairman of East Scotland Farmers and also
being a committee member of the soft fruit sector
in the Scottish NFU.
Furthermore my son Douglas took pride in playing
for the under18 and under 19 Scottish Rugby team.
