Farming in both Central and East Angus we have
been supplying Bartlett’s with potatoes for over
20 years. We grow various varieties for the
company including, Osprey, Desiree, Maris
Piper, Harmony and Rooster.

Away from potatoes we also grow winter wheat
that is used for livestock feeding, spring barley
that is used for malting and oil seed rape which is used for vegetable oil.

Our farm at, Mains of Balgavies, was the first
farm in Scotland to be monitored under the
SEERAD Environmental Monitoring Scheme. The
information collected from this scheme was used
for assessing environmental protection measures.

As well as this we are involved in Operation
Bumblebee, which is a scheme set up to protect
and encourage bumblebee population.
Outside of the general day to day running of the
business Sam is the present Chairman for Brechin & District Young Farmers Club and John had previously held the position.

We have a new construction planned for our
potato store. We plan to collect rainwater from
the roof, channel it into a tank to be recycled and used for many of our different farming activities.
