We have been supplying Bartlett’s with potatoes
on our farm in North East Angus since 2002. We
grow 3 different varieties which include Nicola,
Charlotte and Maris Piper. Aside from potatoes
we also grow winter wheat, spring and winter
barley, daffodils and rear cattle.
Our surrounding environment is particularly
important to us. Recently we re-planted a
substantial amount of Hawthorn and Blackthorn
hedging, as well as planting 300 native species
of trees and constructed a wildlife pond to try to
encourage more birds to nest on our farm. Aside
from cultivating crops both my son and I enjoy
getting involved with our local community. I am
elder at the local parish church and until recently
I was a steward at the Royal Highland Show in
Edinburgh. In addition to being involved on the
farm Peter is also a fully qualified vet. We are
also privileged to have an archaeological site
which contains St Martins Well which is believed
to contain healing water. The Rural Stewardship
Scheme discovered the site from aerial images
and historical maps. The settlement also
contained houses that are believed to date back
to pre-historic times. This area is kept free of
cultivations and any ground disturbances.
