We have been growing potatoes in the East Neuk of Fife for Bartlett's for the last 3 years. We grow predominately Rooster, Osprey, some King Edwards and Maris Piper. These varieties suit the type of land and climate we have in this part of Fife.
In addition we grow Wheat (for distilling), Barley (for malting) and Brussels sprouts. With some grass in the arable rotation, we graze & fatten beef cattle using home grown barley and stock feed potatoes.
All cattle are sold live to local butchers.
We are very conscious of the environment that we farm in and as a result we are involved in the rural stewardship scheme which provides sites for over wintering of birds & grass margins along water courses. We support RSPB with a bird survey and the local owl group with a nesting box.
Away from the farm, I am heavily involved with NFUS and farming politics trying to ensure that we have a sustainable farming industry for the future that still needs farmers.
