MEET THE FARMERS

Alexander & Andrew Bayne

We have been growing potatoes in Perthshire for Bartlett's for over 13 years and provide the company with 6 different varieties; Saxon, Maris Piper, Osprey, Charlotte, Maris Peer and of course their well known Rooster variety. On top of potatoes we grow spring barley for malting, winter wheat for livestock feeding, carrots, swedes, as well as rearing cattle and sheep.

Being farmers we depend on our soils and environment for our crops, therefore it is essential that we care for them in the best way.

To help us in achieving this we are part of the Rural Stewardship Scheme. This has allowed us to plant and maintain hedges, as well as creating water course buffer zones.

Additionally we are part of "Operation Bumblebee" which is helping to increase the population of the insect
