Meet the farmers

Clelland Orr

M.Orr & sons partners are Clelland, David, Harry and Duncan Orr.

At present there are 3 generations of the family working on the farms in the Lothian's.

We have been supplying Bartlett's with potatoes for over 30 years.

At present growing Estima and Osprey on our farms in Mid and East Lothian.

We also grow winter wheat for feed and distilling, spring barley for malting, winter barley for feed and various fodder crops and grass for our suckler cows and breeding sheep, as well as producing prime lamb and beef with our fattening enterprises.

Our farm in West Lothian is predominately livestock containing a large suckler cow herd, a small herd of pedigree Simmental cattle and a flock of breeding sheep.

Cattle from the suckler herd are exhibited regularly at Haddington and Dalkeith agricultural shows. More recently by Harry and his grandson Grant getting good results.

Clelland and his son John-Henry have been involved with Dalkeith show for over 20 years as Conveners of the Commercial cattle and Prime lamb sections.

The farms are involved with rural stewardship schemes which entailed the construction of several ponds and wetland areas, several hectares of wild bird cover, a substantial length of new hedging has been planted and grass margins have been sown round some fields.
