Meet the farmers

We have been supplying Bartlett's with potatoes for over 20years from our farms in Perthshire, Angus and most recently Ross-shire. We grow a wide range of varieties for the company including Osprey, Vivaldi, Kestrel, Harmony, Maris Piper, King Edwards and Rooster. We also produce Rooster, Osprey and Valour organically and are involved in high grade and commercial seed potato production. Other crops that we grow on the farm include wheat for animal feed and distilling markets, malting Barley for the whisky industry, as well as oil seed rape for vegetable oil production.


Conservation is a key consideration for all farming operations with an emphasis on a wide variety of natural habitats and a diverse wildlife. Three of the farms are now registered under the Operation Bumblebee scheme; a national scheme to improve bumblebee numbers on arable farms by sowing a pollen rich seed mix in half hectare blocks. We also look after the water environment with buffer zones surrounding streams and the creation of several irrigation ponds to help conserve natural water courses and help to create wildlife rich habitats. We are always looking into ways to make farming more energy efficient and environmentally friendly, including exploring renewable energies with possible plans for a small micro hydro
scheme.


Young Peter has just recently completed a Nuffield scholarship into "The future of global potato production" and all three of us have an interest in Skiing and Rugby, with Euan playing for Dundee HSFP Rugby Club. Peter senior is also a keen cyclist, even being known to cycle the 124miles between the farms in Perthshire and the Black Isle.
