MEET THE FARMERS

John and Gavin Baillie

We farm in East and West Perthshire where winter wheat, spring barley, oil seed rape, Swedes and vining peas are grown. We joined Albert Bartlett in 2009. Our fully committed ware potatoes to the company include – Maris Piper, Cultra, Harmony, Saxon, Maris Peer and the well-known Rooster.

The care of wildlife and their habitat is a vital component of the food chain and our farming practice. Participation in the rural stewardship scheme allows us to maintain for example, hedges, beetle banks and ponds.

Out with the family farm John is a convener of Kinross Agricultural Society and Gavin a committee member of Tayside Farm Management Association and plays rugby for The Howe of Fife.
