On South Gask Farm in Perthshire I have been growing potatoes for Bartlett's for 16 years. I provide the company with 5 different varieties which include Saxon, Osprey, Maris Piper, King Edward and the well known Rooster potato.
Additionally I also grow daffodils, winter wheat and barley for livestock feeding, spring barley for malting, oil seed rape for vegetable oil, and I rear cattle too.
From a farmer's point of view maintaining and encouraging the surrounding environment is an integeral part of our farming operation.
In particular at South Gask I have constructed a conservation pond and maintain our natural boundaries and hedges in the hope that the areas will be more appealing to local wildlife.
As well as farming I am a member of Blairgowrie Golf Club, here I enjoy both the social and active parts of being involved there.
I also take pride in being the only farmer in 2004 to have received a Quality Control Report with the words ‘WELL DONE' from Bartlett's Paddy Graham-Jones. He's a hard man to please!!
