Meet the farmers

From our Perthshire farm, Bankhead of Kinloch, my son and I have been growing potatoes for Bartlett's for 15 years. We supply them with 5 varieties of potatoes including Maris Piper, Vivaldi and Rooster.

As well as potatoes we also grow strawberries, raspberries, blueberries. Our blackcurrants are grown for Ribena and spring barley for malting. The care of wildlife along with their habitats is key to the food chain and can be advantageous to both the farm and wildlife. With the support of Norfolk Wildlife Trust management scheme we have planted trees and erected bird boxes. Our latest wildlife audit identified sand martins as a key species for us to help, which we are doing by increasing suitable breeding habitat on our farm.

Away from the activities of the farm I like to get involved with community events and am currently the Chairman of East of Scotland Farmers. Back to Farmers
