Meet the farmers
Frank Niven
I have been supplying Bartlett's with potatoes from Cupar in Fife for 18 years and provide the company with 4 different varieties, Osprey, Vivaldi, Nicola and Rooster.Aside from supplying potatoes for Bartlett's I also grow a range of cereals such as winter wheat that is used for distilling and livestock feeding, barley which is used for malting and oil seed rape that is turned into vegetable oil products.
The surrounding environment can have a significant influence on the success of our crops, therefore the care and maintenance of the nearby area is key, not only from an environmental point of view but also for the good of the crops.
I am a member of the Rural Stewardship Scheme through which I have created beetle banks and margins around water courses.
I have also become part of 'Operation Bumblebee' to encourage the population of the insect to increase.
Outside of farming I am a keen rugby fan and enjoy attending all the Scottish rugby union matches. Back to Farmers
